The Benefits of Coffee at the Office

5 Reasons Why Employers Should Provide Coffee at the Office

The majority of Americans, 83%, drink coffee and 54% of us drink it every day. While most coffee drinkers have a brewer at home or make a daily coffee shop run, many get their daily caffeine fix at work. Why should employers invest in coffee at the office?

100% ORGANIC

1. Coffee at the office makes employees happy

Even the smallest things can make employees feel appreciated. Providing coffee at the office for your team can do wonders for morale, loyalty, and job satisfaction. Happy employees are productive employees who don’t spend their lunch breaks browsing job openings at other companies!

2. Coffee is an incentive to get to work on time and stay there

An employee who knows that there is a delicious selection of gourmet coffee and tea at the office has no reason to stop by Starbuck’s on the way to work. Providing quality coffee can encourage employees to get to work early to enjoy a hot drink and conversation with fellow employees before the workday begins. A well-stocked breakroom can also encourage employees to stay in the building during breaks.

3. Coffee can make employees more alert and focused

A study on caffeine for the prevention of errors and injuries showed that compared to a placebo, people who consume caffeine had better reasoning, memory, and attention which could prevent errors and accidents among shift workers.

4. Coffee can increase employee productivity

Coffee has been shown to decrease mental and physical fatigue, while enhancing physical and mental performance. Caffeine increases short-term memory, problem-solving skills, reasoning ability, concentration, and focus. All of these are important factors that help make employees more productive.

5. Coffee at the office encourages employee cooperation

Drinking coffee together can foster positive employee relationships and increase collaboration and cooperation in the workplace.

Having a Keurig machine is a great way to let everyone at the office choose to brew their favorite flavors.

Starting the New Year Organized

A New Year always brings in new things. Paper, files, magazines, and receipts sometimes just flutter on from on year to the next. It is a good idea to help your sanity and to help get rid of some clutter if you get all of last years things all nice and organized.

Organized

Clean Out The Files

It’s important to take time once a year to purge the old to make room for the new. Ask yourself whether or not documents will be relevant to your work in the coming year. If not set those aside and make an archive file. Some files that you should go through are:

  • Desktop files
  • Client files
  • Financial files
  • Receipts
  • Reference files

I like getting new files for a new year so I can just transfer my old ones to our keep file drawer.

OrganizedThese Smead file folders are awesome because I am able to color code my file drawer.

Take A Look At The Office

Office clutter can take over throughout the year - you get busy, create a few pile here, and a stack over there, and suddenly you are not able to see your desk! Go around the room and find a home for all of those piles and you will be able to see your desk in no time. Having an assigned space for everything makes it easier for you to maintain order throughout the year, and at the end of the day it will just take a few minutes to put everything away.

OrganizedMagazine racks are a great way to keep things in a specific place.

Make Some Plans

Plan what you would like to accomplish this year and write it done somewhere you see it everyday so you will constantly remind yourself what your goals are. The best part is you can do these things for your home and your work environment!

We hope everyone has a great 2015!

Stack-and-Shred Wins 2013 SunDANCE Office Supply Championship!

Championannouncement-

Our 2013 Champion fought through possibly the hardest draw in the entire tournament. The Swingline Stack-and-Shred cross cut an early matchup with tournament heavyweight, 3M portable projector (https://www.sundanceoffice.com/sundance/outpost/item_details/MMMMP410) with a close 15-13 victory. Following the first round upset, the Stack-and-Shred made quick work of the tech favorite Logitech iPad Keyboard/Case (https://www.sundanceoffice.com/sundance/outpost/item_details/LOG920004013), coasting to a 10-5 vote margin in the second round.

After a week of hype and buildup, the Stack-and-Shred met tournament darling, the Safco Zenergy Ball Chair (https://www.sundanceoffice.com/sundance/outpost/item_details/SAF4750GS), with the upswing in health conscious office workers many predicted a Zenergy Ball Championship in 2013. It was not to be though, with a passionate voting block of business professionals who saw the unique time saving capabilities of the Stack-and-Shred. After the two traded early votes, the Swingline Stack-and-Shred slid by with an 11-10 voting victory over the Safco Zenergy Ball Chair.

The Championship pitted the underdog Stack-and-Shred against the ultra “cool” Dyson Bladeless Air Multiplier Fan (https://www.sundanceoffice.com/sundance/outpost/item_details/DYS2337001). Early voting had this matchup as a dead heat, but as voting extended it was clear the Dyson had no setting capable of blowing past the Stack-and-Shred. With a sound 31-16 voting edge, this year’s champion is the Swingline Stack-and-Shred Shredder! (https://www.sundanceoffice.com/sundance/outpost/item_details/SWI1757572)

4 Ways to Organize Your Desk

Need to revamp your desk?

We all do sometimes, it brightens our day and gives us a booster of motivation.

Here are 5 fabulous ideas to revamp your workspace. P.S. We found these on Pinterest, gotta love those pins.

Utilize paper cups! Cups are an inexpensive way to organize all the little odds and ends that make up your drawers like paper clips, rubber bands, pens, markers….

Take something you have that you do not use anymore and give it a new life. This bird cage is a cute way to organize and revamp the look of your workspace.

Use your walls! Just because you have a small desk does not mean you can’t have all the things you need within reach. Use your wall as a tool for holding things that won’t quite fit on your desk.

Sometimes we accrue a lot of papers that do not really have a place or file they can categorize into. This is a great way to keep the papers you need out in the open without causing unruly looking clutter.
