Street Cred: Urban Core

Street Cred: Urban Core

Sunday, May 4 | 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Southern downtown | Starting at 5th and Boston with activities down to the 21st Street Riverparks Corridor
Free to attend | No RSVP required

Street CReD is an annual event that focuses on community redevelopment in a specific neighborhood each year by showing what Tulsa can become when it creates the change it wants to see. Our mantra: When no area of Tulsa is neglected, the entire city benefits.

Get ready for a celebration of all things walkable and bikeable downtown, as one of TYPros’ largest and most impactful events of the year returns in May with an Open Streets event that will temporarily close a mile of streets in southern downtown for use by pedestrians and bicyclists.

We need partners to help us create a festival-like atmosphere along the route. Nonprofit organizations can host “activity stops” with almost any activity — as long as it’s designed to get people out of their cars and onto their feet. More information and an application can be found at www.tulsastreetcred.com

Design contest: We are also seeking participants for a design competition to showcase how the city can best utilize a surface parking lot at the southeast corner of 10th and Boston. Details and applications for both can be found at www.tulsastreetcred.com

Going GREEN!

Going GREEN!

Going GREEN should not be hard and the team at SunDANCE is here to help! Try some of these GREEN tips.

1. Printing

Printers are one of the most used office items and represents an area where we can make a significant difference by printing smarter. Try using a multifunction device, this is a combination printer/scanner/copier in one machine and if it is Energy Star rated, it can save both energy and space.

Easy Wardrobe Fixes Using Office Supplies

I came across and interesting article on Kaboodle today about easy wardrobe fixes with office supplies (my favorite subject of course!) and thought I would share the knowledge!

Life Fixes with Office Supplies

Lose a button on your shirt? Let Double-Sided Tape do the work until you can get it fixed!

Life Fixes with Office Supplies

Stuck Zipper? Don’t waste time battling with it, instead color it with a Wooden Pencil, which will help lubricate the track so you can easily slide the zipper up or down.

Life Fixes with Office Supplies Don’t you hate when you get your nails done and the very next day you chip that pretty french manicure? Use White-Out or Liquid Paper to make your manicure look like you just stepped out of the nail salon.

Bad hair day, we have all been there, use Paper Clips as bobby pins for an emergency up-do or to pin back unruly bangs.

Life Fixes with Office SuppliesIt is not a good day when you are working and your bra strap breaks. Hone in on your MacGyver skills and tie one end of the strap to a Paper Clip or Book Ring and hook the metal part to the base of your bra.

undonehem

You look down at your pants and notice that one leg is longer than the other. Not your actual leg, your pant leg.If you find that the hem has come undone in one of your pant legs, just reach for your Stapler as a quick fix. Just fold the pant leg to your desired length and staple the hem… just make sure to be careful when you’re removing the staples later!

fixes with office suppliesScuffed shoe or exposed stiletto? Few things are as annoying as trying to walk in high heels that are missing the rubber or plastic covering of heel base. Prevent a slip by inserting the heel into a thick Eraser or gluing a slim slice of a pencil-top eraser to the exposed metal until you make it to the cobbler. Use a Sharpie to fix a scuffed shoe and make look like new.

We all dislike wardrobe malfunctions, but we hope with these tips the next time one appears, you will be ready!

Spring Cleaning? New Creative Ideas For Office Supplies!

Now that your office is fresh, clean, and organized for Spring why not use old office supplies you do not use in new ways!

Rubber bands make great jar openers. You can use them on those hard to open slick surfaces and on hard to open jars. Rubber bands can also be used to label food in the break room fridge and date it as well. While on the topic of the break room use old bubble wrap to protect produce and items in the fridge.

Binder clips can be used to help keep chords organized and ribbon. You can also use them as a sponge stand. It will help let the sponge dry without laying on a wet surface.

Share YOUR Spring Cleaning finds!

Spring Cleaning Prize Pack

It is time for Spring Cleaning! Before you start you may want to ask yourself:

Do I need this? Why?

Many times we assume we need something because one day we might need it, but try to be honest with yourself and weigh the cost of keeping things that clutter your space. If it’s an item that is cheap, toss it and buy another when you need it.

Where will I look for it when I need to find it?

Do I need to develop a new system?

Try color coding your files. it’s an easy system that will save you time filing and retrieving your documents.

Tips to keep your office space tidy:

Keep Supplies and Often-Used Items Separate

Items that you will likely need throughout the day, like your laptop, pens, planner, and Post-It Notes, all need a spot on your desk. Other items, such as tape, stapler, paper clips, and envelopes, should be neatly stored inside your desk. This keeps less frequently used items from taking up valuable desk real estate, but ensures that they are easily accessible.

Get rid of paper clutter!

Do you really need to save all the papers on your desk? Try filing, or putting all needed paper in binders. It makes everything easier to find. For ongoing projects, keep these files color-coded and set them apart from your archives.

Don’t Use E-Mail as a To-Do List or your desk top as the place to save all documents.

We all are drowning in e-mails and too often use our email like to-do lists. Digital clutter is just as stressful and will drain your mental energy just like physical clutter. Try organizing your inbox like how you organized paper clutter, either with folders and utilize the features on your work email. When all else fails just Google some tips! Do not just flag an email without a system, use the tools you have available to set reminders to follow-up and keep a desk planner for easy access to look up dates of important tasks.

Get rid of germs, food, and dust!

You may already be very organized, but do not forget to prevent the build-up of dust, dirt, and the list goes on. Requesting disinfecting wipes to clean your desk, phone, keyboard and monitor will also help prevent you from getting sick! This is also a good time to organize and get rid of anything from the week you do not need. It also will give your area a clean odor so you will feel fresh and motivated to start your work week!
