Introducing SunDANCE Cares

We have changed our Help Us…Help Tulsa Program to be more encompassing of all of the surrounding community and have changed the name to SunDANCE Cares. The program itself is not changing. We will still highlight a company for one week and a portion of all orders will be donated to them at the end of that week.

SunDANCE CaresThis week, September 21st-25th, we are highlighting Clarehouse, a loving alternative for end-of-life care.

ClarehouseA portion of all orders placed this week will be donated to Clarehouse which provides a loving home, quality end-of-life care, and access to hospice care to people in need.

SunDANCE strives to be present in the local community. SunDANCE Cares is one of the ways we support the community.

Wingapalooza 2015

Wingapalooza2015_SpotlightSMG Special Events and the BOK Center are excited to announce Wingapalooza presented by Tulsa Federal Credit Union, returns for it’s second year on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the BOK Center. This one-of-a-kind event features 25 Tulsa-area restaurants showcasing their various wing preparation styles. Restaurants will compete for several awards including People’s Choice.

This event will include the opportunity to taste the best wings in Tusla, music and cash bars. Tulsa local, DJ Spencer will be spinning records during the event.

Many iconic Tulsa restaurants are slated to participate in Wingapalooza including:

Back in January we did a Help Us… Help Tulsa for the Operation Finally Home project for the Sweger Family. The house has been started and is slated to be finished in the coming months. We received some nice thank you card from the family and wanted to share with all that helped with the January Help Us.. Help Tulsa.

This week is another Help Us…Help Tulsa week. We are donating a portion of our proceeds from all orders this week March 23rd-March 27th to YouthCare of Oklahoma and their scholarship program from the Westside YMCA Summer Camp program.

St. Patrick’s Day

Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.

St. Patrick's DayOn St. Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing accessories. St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

There have been many ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, here in the US, while not a legal holiday in the United States, it is nonetheless widely recognized and observed throughout the country as a celebration of Irish and Irish American culture. Celebrations include prominent displays of the colour green, eating and drinking, religious observances, and numerous parades. The holiday has been celebrated on the North American continent since the late eighteenth century.

Operation FINALLY HOME

Operation Finally HomeThis month we are doing a Help Us… Help Tulsa for the first Oklahoma build project for Operation FINALLY HOME. The project will benefit Staff Sgt. Ronny D. Sweger and his family, which includes wife Claudia and triplet boys Briggs, Brett and Brooks.

Operation FINALLY HOME

Operation FINALLY HOME is a national nonprofit organization that brings together home builders, building suppliers and supporters. Their mission is to provide custom-built, mortgage-free homes to wounded, ill and injured veterans, the widows of the fallen, and their families, creating a solid foundation to help them move forward in their lives.

A Well Deserving Family

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Ronny D. Sweger joined the Oklahoma National Guard in March 1993. Sweger had multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa from 2001 to 2004. He incurred a number of injuries as a result of his seven deployments including PTSD, traumatic brain injury, loss of field vision and migraines. Sweger was eventually sent to the Medical Board for evaluation and medically retired from the military in December 2009.
