2014 Route 66 Marathon

Route 66 MarathonThe Route 66 Marathon made its inaugural run November 19, 2006, with the slogan “Let our first marathon be your first marathon.” The event attracted approximately 3,000 participants in marathon, half-marathon and relay-race events.

Tulsa Route 66 Marathon Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The proceeds from its events benefit the Tulsa Area United Way.

This year the race events will be the weekend of November 22-23rd. The events include a marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K run and walk, fun run and walk, and a mascot dash.

There is also an option to do a Charity Challenge. The Charity Challenge provides an avenue for race participants, individuals and organizations to raise funds on behalf of an official charity partner. It also provides a platform for charities to raise awareness and educate others about their cause.

The five charities that have been chosen are:

  • Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma
  • Folds of Honor Foundation
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Oklahoma Chapter
  • Tulsa Area United Way
  • Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

This is a fun way to get out in Tulsa the weekend before Thanksgiving and get that last bit of energy out before all the food gets eaten.

Oysterfest 2014

oysterfestGuthrie Green with Lucky’s on the Green will hold its first annual Oysterfest on Saturday, March 15th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in conjunction with the Brady Arts District’s St. Patrick’s Weekend Block Party. We are so shucking excited about this event!

It will include an oyster eating contest as well as oyster-off that will showcase many of Tulsa’s most popular restaurants and chefs. Vendors will prepare oysters in a variety of ways allowing patrons to vote on their favorite creation.

Tickets will be sold for food purchases and all proceeds will benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

Tulsa Restaurant Week 2013

Restaurant Week is part of Hunger Action Month and is a wonderful time to sample some of Tulsa’s finest, most delicious, restaurants at a great price and help fight hunger! It is set for September 7th - 15th and will feature specialties from over 35 restaurants this year!

During Restaurant Week, you can enjoy three-course, fixed-price lunches for just $12.95 and three-course, fixed-price dinners for either $25, $35, or $35 for two people.Each meal will feature an appetizer, entree and dessert and all prices exclude tax, gratuity and beverage.

10% of each meal will be donated to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to benefit the Food for Kids BackPack Program. All Restaurant Week proceeds will be matched by the George Kaiser Family Foundation up to $25,000.
To date, Restaurant Week has raised more than $210,000 for the Food Bank’s mission!!

The Food Bank’s Food for Kids program provides a backpack of food each week during the school year to more than 4,800 students in Tulsa County at risk of going hungry during the weekend and holidays.

This year they are adding something new as well, Tulsa Restaurant Week is hosting a social media contest. Post pictures on social media and use the hashtag #TulsaRW on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and you could win a dining certificate to one of your favorite Restaurant Week restaurants!!
