Wingapalooza 2015

Wingapalooza2015_SpotlightSMG Special Events and the BOK Center are excited to announce Wingapalooza presented by Tulsa Federal Credit Union, returns for it’s second year on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the BOK Center. This one-of-a-kind event features 25 Tulsa-area restaurants showcasing their various wing preparation styles. Restaurants will compete for several awards including People’s Choice.

This event will include the opportunity to taste the best wings in Tusla, music and cash bars. Tulsa local, DJ Spencer will be spinning records during the event.

Many iconic Tulsa restaurants are slated to participate in Wingapalooza including:

Full Moon Cafe

The Escape Tulsa

A couple months ago we had the opportunity to do some team-building at The Escape Tulsa.

The Escape Tulsa is a new, simple, and fun live escape game, designed for small groups of 2-6 people. You get 60 minutes to climb a mountain of puzzles and mysteries in a room. We split into two groups but played the same mystery so we could see who could escape and who couldn’t.

We had a great time delving into the world of mystery and the added challenge of trying to be the other team. One team was able to complete the challenge, but I won’t name names. 🙂

After The Escape we went to lunch at Andolinis on Cherry Street and had an amazing lunch in great company.

Last week was a Help Us…Help Tulsa week and we have the donation announcement for how much we will be giving to YouthCare of Oklahoma and their scholarship program to help kids attend the Westside YMCA Summer Camp!

First Day of Spring 2015: Vernal Equinox

Finally!! Spring is here, which if you are like me, means you are hoping for nicer weather and being able to let those kiddos play outside. Just the thought of it being the First Day of Spring makes me happier. Winter is always too long and spring is too short.

The word equinox is derived from the Latin words meaning “equal night.” All over the world, days and nights are approximately equal. Today, the Sun rose exactly in the east and it will set exactly in the west.

As this season begins, the length of daylight increases. (Woo Hoo! It won’t be dark when we are driving home from work anymore.)

Spring often means stronger allergies for many Oklahoman’s. Have no fear, we have supplies to help ease the ache from those seasonal allergies.

St. Patrick’s Day

Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.

St. Patrick's DayOn St. Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing accessories. St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

There have been many ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, here in the US, while not a legal holiday in the United States, it is nonetheless widely recognized and observed throughout the country as a celebration of Irish and Irish American culture. Celebrations include prominent displays of the colour green, eating and drinking, religious observances, and numerous parades. The holiday has been celebrated on the North American continent since the late eighteenth century.
