SunDANCE Cares: Volunteers of America

SunDANCE Cares will highlight the work of Volunteers of America throughout the month of February. Volunteers of America is an organization that has helped those in need for over a century. Ballington and Maud Booth founded the organization in 1896 with the mission “Go wherever we are needed, and do whatever comes to hand.” Volunteers of America has fulfilled this mission in countless ways. It established the nation’s first system of halfway houses for released prisoners, helped millions of Americans survive the Great Depression, developed affordable housing, and much more. Volunteers of America continues to help more than 2 million people each year.
